Sketch first, screen second
Every identity we make starts on paper. Ten minutes with a pencil saves a day in the software.

Software makes everything look finished too early. A pencil keeps ideas cheap.
Twenty marks in ten minutes
We start every identity with a page of quick marks. Most are bad. That is the point: the good one is easier to see next to the bad ones.
Then the curves
Only the strongest two or three go into the software, where we draw them properly, anchor point by anchor point.
